Vascular Associates Report New Treatment of Life-threatening Injury in International Journal

Baton Rouge, LA - Vascular Associates physicians recently published in the May 2006 edition of the Journal of Vascular Surgery a non-surgical treatment of a potentially fatal intra-abdominal blood vessel injury.  Using catheters, wires and covered stents usually reserved for repair of aneurysms, they were able to repair a laceration of the inferior vena cava of a construction worker involved in a life-threatening accident.  Alive and well two years after the treatment, this represents one of the first cases of its’ kind published in the leading peer-reviewed journal for vascular specialists.  “We will continue to find new and less-invasive ways to treat vascular problems typically treated with conventional surgery,” says co-author Dr. John Frusha.
