Vascular Associates Report New Treatment of Life-threatening Injury in International JournalBaton Rouge, LA - Vascular Associates physicians recently published in the May 2006 edition of the Journal of Vascular Surgery a non-surgical treatment of a potentially fatal intra-abdominal blood vessel injury. Using catheters, wires and covered stents usually reserved for repair of aneurysms, they were able to repair a laceration of the inferior vena cava of a construction worker involved in a life-threatening accident. Alive and well two years after the treatment, this represents one of the first cases of its’ kind published in the leading peer-reviewed journal for vascular specialists. “We will continue to find new and less-invasive ways to treat vascular problems typically treated with conventional surgery,” says co-author Dr. John Frusha. About Vascular Associates, PMC Vascular Associates is the largest single specialty vascular and endovascular surgical practice in the gulf coast region with headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA.
